Worthing bus company freezes fares
FARES on buses run by Worthing-based Compass Travel will not be subject to the usual spring increases.
The cost of travelling on Compass buses is normally increased in May or June, but the firm has deferred this years'.
The move was made in light of the drop in fuel prices and applies to all services, including those in Worthing, Shoreham, Lancing, Littlehampton and the Steyning areas.
The only service not exempted is Route 99, the Chichester to Petworth service, as fares for this are controlled by the county council.
Compass Travel managing director Chris Chatfield said: "We recognise that some of our passengers may be struggling in the present economic climate, and hope that this will ease the pressure, particularly for people who rely on buses and have no other means of transport."
