Spire hospital staff to Relay for Life
Private hospital Spire has entered a team into this Saturday's (August 23) Cancer Research UK Relay for Life.
The team will be running the 24-hour relay from noon at William Parker school, as well as running some of the fete stalls for Cancer Research UK throughout the first day.
Team captain Nicola Evans said: "As one in three people will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives, it is an opportunity to remember those lost to cancer, to support those who are facing cancer and ultimately, help prevent cancer.
"It is a cause close to everyone's heart and by taking part we can raise money and have fun at the same time. Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent charity dedicated to research on the causes, treatment and prevention of cancer.
"As a health care assistant at Spire Sussex I get to meet patients who are undergoing treatment for cancer, as this is one of the many treatment services Spire Sussex provide.
"My colleagues and I have taken the challenge to 'Relay for Life' as this is our chance to honour the cancer patients we have met over the past ten years. We are raising money into research so one day we will beat cancer. There are over 200 types of cancer and with the community getting together and raising awareness of prevention we at Spire Sussex will have played our part in finding a cure for cancer."
