THE Chinese Year of the Snake was welcomed in with colourful celebrations at Priory Meadow.

Chinese New Year fell on February 10, but was marked locally with an event on Sunday, organised by the Hastings Chinese Association.

Adults and children were involved in the festivities, which included dragon dances, and traditional Tibetan and Chinese dances, as well as singing.

There were also martial arts demonstrations from 1066 Kung Fu, and Chinese arts and crafts.

Ke Xia Xu, chairman of Hastings Chinese Association, said: “Our appreciation goes to Hastings Borough Council and Priory Meadow Shopping Centre.”
