Second fire at office block

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze at an industrial estate late at night.

The fire broke out in a unit at VIP House in Elizabeth Road on the Ponswood Industrial Estate at 11pm on Tuesday.

It was the second time the fire service had been called to the VIP House office block in three months.

More than 40 firefighters from across the county, including chief fire officer Des Pritchard, attended a blaze at the converted office block on November 15.

It is believed that time a space heater filled with oil overheated and caught fire in an industrial workshop at the office block.

Last night two fire engines from the Ridge, one from Bohemia and one from Bexhill attended the scene.

Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus helped bring the fire under control.

One of the garage units on site was badly damaged by the blaze. The cause is under investigation.
