Science expert to talk to humanists
A science lecturer from Sussex University will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of Hastings Humanists.
James Williams will deliver a talk at The Arts Forum on Thursday, February 11 from 7pm – almost a year to the day since the group was launched.
Hastings Humanists formed on Charles Darwin's 200th birthday, February 12 last year, and organisers decided to hold a Darwin Day lecture every year.
The ideas of evolution by natural selection are of great importance for humanists, since they provide the basis for understanding many aspects of human life.
And this year Mr Williams will discuss how science works and discuss how he believes creationists have tried to introduce propaganda into state schools.
Entry is 2. For more information visit the group's online blog at www.hastingshumanists.blogspot.com or ring George Jelliss on 01424 440749.
