Rubbish collections cancelled and disruption to trains due to snow
SEVERE wintry conditions and snowfall have meant recycling and rubbish collections are suspended today (Monday).
Hastings Borough Council said some of the side and minor roads in the town are still very icy making it dangerous for dustcarts to try and negotiate these.
A council spokesman said: “Our waste collection contractor, Veolia, will be helping to clear the pavements in the main shopping areas and the roads providing access to key areas of town.
“As part of the contingency plans, Veolia staff were out clearing the pavements on Sunday, and our grounds maintenance contractor, Quadron, also helped by clearing roads and footpaths at the cemetery and in our parks and gardens. We also delivered salt to the priority areas to help residents help themselves.”
