Police hunt primary school vandals
Police are hunting a group of yobs after a primary school was vandalised during the summer holidays.
A wooden garden bench was torn from the ground and several tiles were ripped off the roof at Battle and Langton School, in Market Road, between 5pm on Monday August 2 and 12.45pm on August 5.
It is estimated the damage will cost 200 to repair.
CCTV cameras caught three men entering the school site around the time of the incident.
The suspects got into the school grounds via the car park and went to the rear field to the right of the school.
Police also discovered a large amount of litter left behind, including beer bottles, cans and Indian takeaway cartons.
A train ticket and receipt from a local shop were also found at the scene.
Officers have contacted the store in a bid to get CCTV footage of the men buying the alcohol.
The Indian restaurant has also been contacted by police.
Police say youths could be responsible for the vandalism, but they are keeping an open mind.
Sergeant Dan Russell, of Battle police, said: "I'm very saddened at the damage caused at the school.
"We will continue to patrol the school and other local areas to ensure that no such damage is caused again.
"We are following lines of investigation to try and find those responsible."
