Photography at the Conquest
A photography exhibition opened at the Conquest hospital this week.
Emphysema sufferer and photographic artist Jean Fraser made a cycle journey from Whitstable to Hastings last summer, writing and photographing on the way.
Now Arts in Healthcare, the arts project at East Sussex Hospital Trust, has installed an exhibition of her pictures in the Respiratory Department at the Conquest.
The journey aimed to maximize Jean's physical and mental health. She succeeded, following lung function tests made at Conquest at the end of her journey, Jean's daily medication requirement had dropped by half.
The journey, day by day, can be seen at www.drawingbreath.org. A second big touring exhibition to include new work by Jean Fraser and other artists and will visit the Conquest next Spring.
The Bike Ride exhibition will be shown until the end of the year.
