Pedestrian hit by car

A MAN was treated for a head injury after being hit by a car in the town centre, in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday).

The incident happened at around 1.55am in Claremont, near the junction with Trinity Street, and the pedestrian was treated at the Conquest Hospital before being allowed home.

The car stopped at the scene, but left before police arrived.

Police are seeking the driver of the car, and sergeant Stacey Ellott of the Sussex Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for the driver of the car, and anyone who may have information that could assist in the investigation, to contact us via 101 quoting serial 0163 of 17/2.”
