A CYCLIST was presented with a new bike to help him take part in the upcoming On Yer Bike challenge.

Martyn Lewis received the road bike from Steve Toulson, senior partner in Deeks Evans Accountants, which sponsored the prize. Mr Lewis’s number was drawn from all last year’s entrants who paid sponsorship money into the event’s bank account.

Ray Howard, for the Rotary Club of St Leonards, which organises On Yer Bike, said: “We are extremely grateful to Deeks Evans for sponsoring this prize, which is given as an incentive for the entrants to raise sponsorship money.”

Entries are now being taken for this year’s ride, also known as the Castle Cycle Challenge, which takes place on Sunday, April 29.

Cyclists have the choice of a 25-mile route to Pevensey Castle and return, or can tackle the more strenuous 40-mile route which proceeds from Pevensey Castle to Herstmonceux Castle and returns along the Rickney Marsh road.

Entry is £8 (minimum) for adults and £2 for under 16s. Those wanting to take part can log onto www.stleonardsrotary.org.
