Musclemen set to lock horns in charity strongman competition

MUSCLEMEN from across 1066 Country are being invited to lock horns in a charity strongman contest.

Zeus Gym in Theaklen Drive will stage the event on March 31 to raise money for Evelina Children’s Heart Organisation (Echo) in London.

Owner Martin Beeson, 30, has organised the event to raise money for the hospital where doctors successfully carried out open heart surgery on his daughter Jade when she was aged five.

Gym member Dave Stokes is also raising money for Echo after his son Kai also had heart surgery at the same hospital, aged eight months.

Commonwealth gold medal weight-lifter Delroy McQueen, who is from Hastings, will also be demonstrating the car lift.

There will be categories for beginners and experienced strongmen with events such as the truck pull and Atlas stone lift.

The event is open to people of all ages and the competition starts at 10am.

The target is £2,000 and all money raised will be split between The Ronald Macdonald House and Echo.
