MP Amber Rudd presses minister for green light
HASTINGS MP Amber Rudd has launched a campaign to persuade Norman Baker MP to approve the go-ahead for the Hastings to Bexhill Link Road.
Ahead of a meeting with Mr Baker, the parliamentary under secretary of state for transport, on Wednesday (February 1), Amber is urging residents to sign up in support of the scheme at www.amberrudd.co.uk/news/hastings-to-bexhill-link-road.
Last month, the Department for Transport delayed a ruling on whether the link road would be passed, for another three months.
Ms Rudd said: “Last year the Chancellor confirmed funding for the link road but then the Department for Transport decided it needed to review whether the link road is the best use of funds to achieve economic growth. I believe it is. And I know I am supported by the local community. I would like residents to show their agreement by signing my petition for the minister.”
Environmental campaigners and some residents have spoken out against the link road, but the MP says that every elected MP and councillor supports the link road, and she is is now seeking extra evidence of support from people living in the area through her petition.
