Man in court over attack in Old Town

A CIVIL engineer appeared in court today (FRI) charged with attacking another man who was found lying unconscious near Hastings Adventure and Crazy Golf complex last weekend.

Daniel Eamon Lawson, 31, of Salisbury Road, St Leonards-on-Sea was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and actual bodily harm on father-of-two George Gardiner.

The 27-year-old was found lying on the ground at 6.30am last Sunday (March 10) and remains in a medically induced coma in hospital.

Lawson was also charged with production of cannabis following a search of his home.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on May 31.

Police said that he had been out drinking with friends from 4pm on Saturday until 11.30pm.

He was last seen in the Black Market pub on George Street at around 11.30pm.

Police said they did not know where he went to afterwards and who he was with and were appealing for witnesses.
