Launch of Rebound Zone at William Parker
Mayor Cllr Kim Forward cutting the ribbon with help from two youngsters
THE town’s mayor, together with guests and budding gymnasts, gathered at William Parker Sports College recently to launch a new sports facility.
Called the Rebound Zone, representatives from the Jubilee People’s Millions, the school and Hollington Gymnastics Club attended the official opening.
With the help of two little gymnasts, and to the cheer of all the guests, Mayor Kim Forward cut the ribbon to launch the new facility.
This was followed by tumbling demonstrations, high flying twists and somersaults through the air, landing in the new foam-filled pit.
William Parker Sports Coillege won £28,556 in a public telephone vote, which was screened on Meridian last year, to equip the new Rebound Zone in the Jubilee People’s Millions. The new gymnastics area has a stack of specialist equipment, foam flooring and a foam-filled dismount pit for freestyle tumbling.
John Court, headteacher, said: “The Rebound Zone project is an amazing success, bringing William Parker and the community together to achieve the highest number of votes in the Meridian East region. Thank you to everyone who voted for us, together we have made a difference.” The new facility is proving to be very popular as there is already a waiting list for the open sessions.
