A CHILDREN’S charity helped pay towards buying a custom built tricycle for a disabled toddler.

Charity for Kids donated £500 to the family of two-year-old Henry Walker, who has diplegic cerebral palsy.

Due to his lack of balance and co-ordination his family wanted to raise cash to buy a specially adapted tricycle to help with Henry’s balance and allow him to build strength in his legs.

Fundraising started off with the youngster’s family holding a race night at the Welcome Stranger in Silverhill, St Leonards last month. The night also included a raffle which saw overwhelming support from residents and business donating prizes, the result of which £1,027 was raised.

Charity for Kids contributed £500 towards the cost of the new tricycle, along with another £500 being raised by Henry’s family, who decided to donate the extra cash back to the charity.

Paul Harris, charity chairman, said: “We are delighted to be able to get involved with such a loving and generous family. Henry is a beautiful little boy, it’s wonderful to see the support from his family and friends.”

In just over five months’ time a team of six from Charity for Kids will attempt to swim the English Channel in a two-way relay. The Channel Swim Team hope to complete the venture in a time of just under 35 hours.

Once the swimmers are back in Dover three of the team members will then cycle 32 miles from Dover into Rye and finish off with a half-marathon running from Rye back into Hastings.

If anyone wants to support Charity for Kids’ upcoming challenge text CFKH11 followed by £2, £5, £10 to 70070 or people can donate online via www.justgiving.com/teams/channeltri100.
