Heroine thrown lifeline by lender

DOG attack heroine Sharron Brooker has been thrown a lifeline after her mortgage company offered to help resolve her £5,000 debt.

Last week the Observer revealed the 52-year-old was in turmoil after receiving a bill demanding £5,000 for unpaid mortgage payments.

A mother-of-three, Sharron has been unable to return to work as a bin wagon driver because of the injuries she sustained in a horrific attack by two dogs last summer.

But after raising Mrs Brooker’s plight with DB Mortgages, the firm has agreed to put her case on hold.

A company agent was due to visit Sharron last night.

Sebastian Howell, spokesman for DB Mortgages, said: “Mrs Brooker has now been in touch with DB Mortgages and we are discussing the various options available to her in an effort to resolve the situation.”

Generous Observer readers have shown their support for Sharron.

John Wilson, of Park Crescent, donated £100 and Sue Evans of Nazareth Close, Bexhill donated £10 to Sharron.

Sharron, of Carpenter Drive, said she had been overwhelmed by the support she has received.

“I have been really moved by everyone’s generosity,” she said. “Hopefully I can get something sorted out now with my mortgage lender.

“I just want to get well as soon as possible.”
