Heather criticised by police
HEATHER Mills McCartney has been criticised by police over the disproportionate number of emergency calls she has made. The estranged wife of Sir Paul McCartney lived with the pop star at Peasmarsh and has her own home at Beckley.
A senior Sussex officer said police had handled four calls from Heather in a 24 hour period but had found no grounds for further action.
Chief Supt Kevin Moore, of Sussex Police, said there was a danger of further complaints not being taken seriously.
Many of the complaints relate to her being followed by photographers.
Mr Moore said: "We are having to spend a disproportionate amount of time on one particular person.
"We are duty bound to respond but. clearly, people who make a lot of calls to the police run the risk being treated as the little boy who cried wolf.
"officers who have attended previously to find there have been no grounds might not take any future claims seriously and that's the danger we face."
Last month it emerged Heather had been involved in discussions with Sussex Police after claiming to have received death threats.
In January, her sister Fiona Mills made an internet plea for an end to media harassment of her family.
Heather McCartney's spokesman Phil Hall said: "She is a single mum who has been very nervous about all the things that have happened.
"She has been followed late at night by people she does not know.
"The danger is she will not call police in the future and something serious will happen. What is she supposed to do?"
Last week Heather said she was not a publicity seeker, despite appearing in a string of photocalls and television interviews for Sky, the BBC, GMTV and ITN.
