Hastings Pier fire leaves dozens of homes without water
Dozens of homes have been left without water after fire crews had to drain the local water supply.
Eight fire crews battled the seafront blaze this morning - with emergancy services forced to ship in a giant water truck to help fight the fire.
And, a spokesman for Southern Water confirmed the mammoth fire-fighting effort had taken its toll on local supplies.
They told the Observer: "We are not sure how many homes are without water but we have had 26 people report problems to us.
"Hopefully people will be understanding considering the circumstances and we have a team on site now trying to sort out the problem.
"Some people may have no water, others may have low water pressure and some may have slightly discoloured water. The discoloured water is safe to drink.
"If people are having trouble they do not need to contact us as we are on the case."
Two people were arrested shortly after the fire started.
