Hastings Pier arson suspects released on bail

Two teenagers arrested on suspicion of burning down Hastings Pier have been released on bail.

Police arrested the pair, aged 18 and 19, shortly after the fire broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

They spent yesterday trawling through CCTV footage and quizzing the St Leonards duo, but early this morning they were released on bail.

They will return to Hastings Police Station on Tuesday November 2 to find out if they will face any charges.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, either by calling Hastings Police on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Firefighters estimated the iconic attraction was 95 per cent destroyed but campaigners are waiting for a full structural survey.
