Giant crane to demolish parts of Hastings Pier tonight
The seafront road will be closed for four hours this evening as a giant crane is moved into place ready to demolish part of the pier.
Some of the fire-ravished attraction is still dangerous, so Hastings Borough Council is closing the seafront road between 6.30pm and 10.30pm.
The Observer understands that a giant crane will be hoisted into place so emergancy work can take place to remove parts of the front section.
It is believed the left-hand turret will be one of the buildings to go.
The council stressed no decision has been made on the structure and that any demolition work will not impact on future restoration.
Diversions will be in place along the seafront.
