Etchingham man smashed rail booking office window
An Etchingham man who smashed the booking office window at West St Leonards Station told police he could not remember anything about it.
Dean Walker, 23, of Park Farm Close, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court last week.
He also admitted being in breach of an ASBO after being caught drinking on a train.
Jeremy King. Prosecuting, said: "The incident happened on Christmas Eve last year.
"He got off at West St Leonards station and as he passed the booking office he raised his elbow and smashed the window causing 150 damage.
"Railway staff confronted him and asked him why he had done it but he made no response and just walked off.
"he was arrested on January 2 after being spotted on a train between High Brooms and Tonbridge drinking, which was a breach of an ASBO made in December last year.
"He was loud in his behaviour and police believed him to be drunk.
"He told police he could not remember breaking the window."
Samantha Wingfield, defending, said: "He was worse for wear on both occasions and cannot remember what happened. He is taking the pragmatic approach by pleading guilty.
"He says he has now got his drinking under control.
Magistrates ordered Walker to complete an extra 60 hours of unpaid community work, on top of an existing work order.
He was ordered to pay 150 compensation for the broken window and 85 costs.
