Estate agent staff raise money for charity to help homeless

STAFF at an estate agent in Hastings have donated more than £15,000 to charity.

Andrews estate and lettings agents raised the cash for the Estate Agency Foundation, a charity dedicated to combating the causes of homelessness.

Most of the money was raised through a series of branch events in December, and it represents more than 10 per cent of the foundation’s £150,000 target for 2012.

Fundraising included coffee mornings, Christmas events and curry nights, as well as a sponsored static bike ride. Earlier in the year, staff were involved in charity golf and football tournaments. The Estate Agency Foundation was set up in 2008 and supports charities like Shelter, St Mungo’s and Broadway.

Nick Wright, financial director at Andrews & Partners, said: “It was wonderful to see our Hastings staff making such an effort to raise money. We also need to thank customers and locals who got involved. As estate agents it is appropriate we play a part in combatting the causes of homelessness, as well as helping people who don’t have a home.”
