Eat Global starts this Saturday

FOOD lovers are in for a treat as the Eat Global festival kicks off tomorrow (Saturday) for the second year with a packed programme of food, fun and entertainment.

The festival celebrates the quality and diversity of Hastings’ food industry, featuring the best in international cooking from restaurants and cafes across the town.

Tomorrow sees a family-friendly event in Priory Meadow shopping centre with local chefs and restaurants showcasing their favourite recipes, with some delicious tasters to try.

The afternoon features traditional Indian music and dance and walkabout entertainers, including Driftwood, a group of fisherwomen who roam the coast with their small fishing hut and Fairly Fresh Fish with their dancing prawns.

Cllr Kim Forward, lead member for housing and community services at Hastings Borough Council, said: “Eat Global it is not just about eating. Several restaurants will also feature live music and even dance dinners. Other activities to enjoy during the week are cookery workshops and demonstrations, a talk about ‘Hastings’ Relationship with Food’ featuring a panel of local experts and a children’s teatime workshop.”
