Drug-dealing barman is sentenced
A BARMAN who was caught by a suspicious police officer dealing drugs from a car has walked free from court.
Passenger Andrew Thresher, 20, and Shkelqim Behu, 29, were arrested in April last year after the car they were in was stopped in Langney Road.
When police searched the vehicle they seized cash and more than 32 grammes of cannabis worth about 90, Lewes Crown Court heard.
Thresher, of Pevensey Road, denied possession of a class C drug with intent to supply but was convicted following a trial earlier this month.
He claimed the drugs were for him and Behu to share and denied dealing.
But the court heard that the pair were supplying drugs from the car as they drove around the town.
Rowan Jenkins, defending Thresher, told the court, "His life has changed and he has grown up."
The court was told that Behu absconded after he was charged and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Judge Anthony Scott-Gall gave Thresher a 12-month jail sentence suspended for two years.
He was also ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work and attend an alcohol treatment programme. He must also pay 250 costs.
