Celebrating Bob Marley
A FESTIVAL which celebrates the 30th anniversary of one of music's most iconic concerts gets underway in Herstmonceux on Friday.
The three-night One Love festival takes place at the Observatory Arts Arena at Herstmonceux Castle from Friday (August 15) to Sunday (August 17).
Set deep within a woodland clearing, beneath the Isaac Newton Observatory building, the festival will offer something for everyone with more than 100 performing artists and visual DJs playing a selection of reggae, dub, chill-out and electronica.
Other attractions include food from around the globe, a treetop boulevard market, healing area, interactive art trail, Maypole dancers and chill-out areas, as well as a mysterious, hidden sound system dotted among the woodland.
One Love has also been scheduled to celebrate the full-moon lunar eclipse weekend. As night falls, the audience will be treated to some of the most spectacular lunar activity of the year as they settle down at the nearby campsite.
The event marks 30 years since the One Love concert in Kingston, Jamaica, when Bob Marley joined the hands of bitter political rivals Michael Manley and Edward Seaga on stage as a symbol of what could be achieved through unity.
It was credited as having a major effect on the two opposing factions cooling their conflict.
Weekend camping tickets cost 70 for adults, 30 for children (aged five to 15) and 160 for a family ticket (two adults, two children).
Friday day tickets cost 25 for adults and 15 for children, with those for Saturday and Sunday priced at 30 for adults and 20 for children.
