Cat charity’s bid to raise funds for cat fosterers
Funds are to be raised to help needy cats
A CHARITY that looks after stray cats has revamped itself and is desperately trying to raise money for its cause.
Cat Call, which had a sanctuary in Brightling Road, needs help from the public with donations to help those people who have taken on unwanted felines.
The charity was founded by Julie Child, who sadly died aged 59 in November 2010, of a blood clot to the lung.
She lived at the sanctuary, caring for the moggies until her death, and since then volunteers and other members of Cat Call have been unable to find a new base.
Consequently the charity is not taking on any more cats.
Barbara Postion, a volunteer for Cat Call, said: “Although the house is closed, we still need the public’s continuing support with donations for our jumble, car boot and table sales.
“We have a lot of cats in foster homes which need help with food and vet bills.
“Cat Call is now under new management and people can come and meet the new team at our coffee morning next Saturday (February 11).” The event is from 10am to noon at Park Road Methodist Church, Bohemia Road.
Cat Call began in 1983 with the Lost and Found cat register, which grew into Feline Friends.
In 1991 the name was changed to Cat Call and it became a registered charity in 1994.
