Boozed up woman who swore at police is fined
A drunk woman who swore at police after a boozy night out was fined £50.
Hazel Lamb, of Sea Road, was hauled before the district judge at Hastings Magistrates Court on Wednesday following her arrest in the early hours of September 7.
Lamb, 27, was heard by police issuing random threats to fellow revellers and the court was told how her arrest put her in breach of a conditional discharge.
This had been imposed following a previous charge of drunk and disorderly and resulted in a separate 25 fine.
Simon Allen, prosecuting, told the court: "She had been warned by police who were patrolling the town centre but started making obscene gestures at them."
Aiden Harvey, defending, said: "She does not remember saying this (the threats). She says she was trying to go on walking away from the officers because she realised she had had too much to drink.
"She says she swore at herself and this might have been what the police heard.
"There are issues here which she is addressing. She was not in the right frame of mind and did not want to talk to the police."
Tessa Szagun, district judge, said: "You were told what would happen if you offended again so there is no excuse."
