Appeal to trace murder victim’s family

JUST over three years ago a young woman was jailed for life in Africa for the brutal killing of her 76-year-old husband.

Kate Artori West was found guilty of bludgeoning William West to death with a giant pestle and setting him on fire before burying him in the sand in a jungle in a black bin liner.

Last week the 31-year-old had an appeal against her sentence turned down by a judge in The Gambia.

In Friday’s paper the Observer’s chief reporter Sol Buckner will revisit the tragic case.

Mr West had a niece who lived in Bembrook Road, Hastings. The Observer is keen to speak to Mr West’s family.
