Lions’ donation to swimming club

THE Lions Club of Hastings has handed over £1,500 to Hastings Seagull Swimming Club as part of its Campaign for Youth initiative.

It is the second year the Lions has had a sponsorship deal with the Seagulls, which aims to help encourage young people take up swimming and for the club to be able to compete with other clubs.

Hastings Seagull Swimming Club was originally formed 64 years ago and adopted its present name in 1969.

It can be seen to be still thriving by the number of young people ploughing up and down the pool every Thursday evening.

Other youth organisations in the town are encouraged to contact the Lions Club via www.hastingslion.org.uk or by ringing 01424 830658.
