Spirit of giving

MAY I, via your Letters page say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed towards my Sock Appeal for Surviving Christmas this year.

I was able to deliver 10 black sacks full of new warm socks to the festive charity, Surviving Christmas, on Christmas Day where they were very well received.

Pairs of socks were also placed in the numerous Christmas parcels distributed by Surviving Christmas to those in need.

Thanks are particularly due to the Information Centre at the Town Hall and to the Creative Media Centre in Robertson Street, which acted as locations for the Sox Boxes.

Finally I express my gratitude to all who gave socks in response to this year’s appeal. There was even one bag of hand-knitted scarves, hats and gloves. How wonderful. Surely this is the true meaning of Christmas.

A happy and peaceful New Year to you all.
