Latest on the fight to save the pier
ON behalf of Hastings Pier and White Rock Trust, I would like to respond to Ian David Baker’s letter in last week’s Observer.
Firstly it is important to say how much we value the contribution of the very many people who have volunteered their time to support the cause of the pier’s restoration both through the trust and in the wider context. Without this support, saving the pier would not be possible.
We also value tremendously the very many individual donations that have been made to the restoration funds and this generosity has been a further lifeline for the pier. The project to save Hastings Pier would not be possible without the further support of the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). The recruitment of an administrator is an important step in putting in place the team that has been agreed with, and funded by, the HLF as part of their support for the development phase of the project. As well as being vital to securing the future of the pier, this role will provide an opportunity for employment in Hastings.
Although applications for the role are now closed, full details of the post, including salary, are available on our website, www.HPWRT.co.uk.
