Changes must be made to ease road traffic woes

Following Pam Brown's letter regarding increased traffic on The Ridge due to the opening of the BHLR, it is clear any further large-scale developments '“ such as 140 dwellings on the Harrow Lane Playing Fields and another 165 at Holmhurst St Mary '“ should not go ahead if we are to avoid even more traffic congestion and air pollution in the area.

As to the ‘improvement’ at the junction of Harrow Lane and The Ridge, with an endless stream of traffic, the two lanes at the mini-roundabout actually now make it more dangerous to turn right from Harrow Lane into The Ridge because vehicles in the ‘filter lane’ (from The Ridge into Harrow Lane) obscure vehicles travelling in the straight ahead lane.
