A survey would reflect views

Am I under a misapprehension? One of your letter writers in the Observer of January 22 felt that the park belongs to Hastings Borough Council. Surely they represent the people of Hastings and manage the park on our behalf?

Does the park not belong to us? I have studied the proposed plans and am amazed at the necessary improvements which will be needed to install this route.

It appears to involve some major costs.

New signage, new surfacing in some areas, new railings a possibility, a new member of staff to police the people riding in the park, to name but a few of the necessary works needed to make this useable.

Can we actually be told what sums are involved and where the funding is coming from.

Believe me I am not against cycling, it is a healthy pastime but if it involves other necessary projects being shelved, then I am dead against it.

I believe if we took a petition round the park during a seven-day period we would get a better reflection of people’s feelings.

I would suggest this should be unbiased with one for and one against .

If anyone wishes to help I am quite prepared to organise one.
