ANY residents hoping to have a right royal knees-up to celebrate Prince William’s wedding need to hurry if they want to get permission from the council.
Next Wednesday, April 20, is the last day to apply to the council for a road closure ahead of any planned street party on April 29, when William walks down the aisle with Kate Middleton.
Only two streets have formally applied for closures on that day so far - St Mary’s Terrace and Bexleigh Avenue, St Leonards, alongside the medieval royal pageant which is taking place throughout the town centre and the Old Town.
Residents in six other roads have expressed an interest in closures - Perth Road, Gillsman’s Park, Valley Side Road, Alexandra Road and Monarch Gardens - all in St Leonards - and Clive Avenue.
Anyone wishing to apply should call Claire Peedell of the East Sussex County Council highways department on 01424 783351 to find out how to go about it and to request a form.
