THE annual Hastings Borough Bonfire Society Ladies Wot Walk will be held on Sunday (May 19), staged from West St Leonards to Hastings Old Town.
This colourful and offbeat fundraiser sees the ladies as men and the men as ladies as cross-dressing becomes the order of the day.
Nick Lynas, society chairman, said: “The Hastings Bonfire and firework display costs many thousands of pounds to put on for the people of the town.
“This event is fun, colourful and unusual and has become one of the favourites in our fundraising calendar.
“The fundraising begins at the Bo-Peep pub in West St Leonards and then, prompting stares, laughs and donations, the ladies and gentlemen go along the seafront, making regular comfort breaks along the way, finally ending up at the Stag on All Saints Street.”
To join the event, sponsorship forms are available from www.hbbs.info.
All that is needed is a feminine costume for the gentlemen and a masculine one for the ladies. There is a £5 entry fee and the walkers gather at the Bo-Peep at noon.
