THE SKY is the limit for Kimberly Marie Freeman who has hit the ground running since moving to New York City four years ago to pursue a career in acting.
The 30-year-old former Helenswood student, who grew up in St Leonards, is currently starring in an all-female adaptation of the Shakespeare classic As You Like It.
Since moving to the USA, Kimberly’s career has thrived with a string of Off Broadway, independent theatre, and television under her belt.
Since graduating from university she has worked on 23 theatre shows, five web series and several TV projects still in pre-production.
Her theatre credits include Much Ado About Nothing, Alice In Wonderland, The Marionettes and, Mrs Warrens Profession.
She said of landing the part in As You Like It, the final performance of the Oxford Shakespeare Company in New York: “The director actually requested me for the show.
“I had so many other projects on at the time that I was not able to attend auditions for the show.
“I was so surprised to see the message in my inbox specifically asking me to take part in the last show in NYC. I feel very honoured.”
From an early age, Kimberly was encouraged to take part in the performing arts.
After studying at Parkwood Sixth Form, Kimberly moved to Paris to study at the Sorbonne, followed by Sussex Downs College and Dundee University, before moving to the Big Apple.
She said: “I have not been home for three years as I have been working so much, but will be finally home for Christmas which I am excited about.”
“I heard the Crypt closed which is sad, but I think The Pig in Paradise is still there!”
