MORE than 400 people flocked to St Michael’s Hospice Jubilee Market and Open Garden on Tuesday under cloudy skies.

Despite heavy rain in the afternoon, the event in the hospice grounds raised a total of £4,000.

St Michael’s fundraiser Sally Beresford said: “The event was extremely popular and we’re so grateful to all who came along to celebrate the Jubilee weekend with us despite a heavy downpour in the afternoon.

“The fact that so many people braved the weather is testament to the fantastic devotion we receive from our supporters and volunteers.”

Next week’s open garden in aid of the hospice takes place at Millfield in Mill Lane, Peasmarsh, on Tuesday. Visit the events page at www.stmichaelshospice.com for the full open garden calendar.
