A LION’S mane jellyfish washed up on a St Leonards beach on Wednesday (September 4) caused excitement among beach-goers enjoying the sunny afternoon.

Discovered near Grosvenor Gardens, it measured around 50 centimetres across. Even when dead, the tentacles can sting, so members of the public are warned not to touch the creatures.

The jellyfish has since been removed.
