The owner of a local dance group has spoken of her pride at the achievements of the young people under her tutelage.

Samantha Smith runs a dance group that goes by the name of Sparks Dance Crew, based at Ore Community Centre.

The talented youngsters, whom Samantha describes as her ‘dance family’ have had a busy year, both in their own personal achievements and fundraising for charity.

Samantha says she also welcomed a lot of new members to her dance family ageing from three up to 18, adding: “Sparks performed at many events this year including summer fairs all round Hastings; the Beer and Music Festival, Armed Forces Day in Alexandra Park, and the Old Town Carnival which, for the second year in a row, we came first in class and won best float in the whole event, Pirate Day and Hastings Got Talent.”

The busy year included a special award and the prospect of appearing on one of Britain’s popular reality TV series. Samantha said: “Sparks also received a Youth Award 2014 for their work in the community and the biggest of all have been asked to audition in front of the producers of

“I want to say a big thank you to all my helpers and all the support we have been given this year. Also a massive thank you to all my Sparks children for making my 2014 a great year.

“I’m so proud of how hard all my Sparks have worked and I am looking forward to what 2015 brings us.”
