He also revealed Tommy Fraser and Josh Jones have left the club in a message to fans on the club’s website.

The messages - headline Message from the Manager - said:

“Firstly I would like to apologise for recent performances, they haven’t been good enough, and I take full responsibility because I pick the team.

“The step up has been an eye opener, but at the same time we need to get better quickly and start to play with the same confidence as of last season.

“I also feel we need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves me included and start working harder,we’ve only lost about 7 league games in the last 70 so that tells me the players can do it.

“Also unfortunately Tom Fraser and Josh Jones have left the club, both players felt it hasn’t worked out for them and left by mutual consent, thry are both good players but it happens at football clubs from time to time that things don’t work out for one reason or another.

“Thanks for your continued support, Chappers”
