VOLUNTEERS and hospital staff have been praised and thanked for their hard work throughout the recent snow.

The Coastguard, Bexhill Chaplaincy, Raynet, St John Ambulance, Territorial Army and Regular Army as well as the public provided a fleet of 4x4 vehicles to help ferry staff to and from work.

Donna Boydell, staff nurse at the Conquest’s Newington Ward, praised the volunteers for being “knights in shining armour”.

Darren Grayson, hospital chief executive, said: “Lots of hard work and effort has taken place across the trust to ensure minimal disruption to our services.
