A NEW piece of equipment has been bought by generous fundraisers for the Conquest Hospital to help cataract patients.
The post-operative scanner was donated for the operating theatres with a £12,000 donation from the Friends.
Lesley Carter, ophthalmic theatre clinical lead, said: “Before, patients had to go to the outpatients department to get a scan and we were reliant on only one machine and member of staff.
Now we can assess patients quicker and easier in pre-assessment, which mean we can see more people.”
Tim Leakey, risk and health and safety manager for surgery, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Friends for their kind donations. The equipment will allow us to provide the best possible service to our patients.”
