ST MICHAEL’S Hospice Riding Club raised £7,000 in 2012 bringing its fundraising total over the last four years to almost £20,000.
The money was raised through various charity events held throughout the year including dressage, jumping series and the annual Horse and Dog Show.
A cheque was presented to the hospice last Sunday (March 17), when club members rode into the hospice grounds, in Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards.
The event was attended by committee and club members, and also mayor Alan Roberts.
The hospice’s community fundraiser, Amanda Hildreth, said: “The hospice was delighted to have received such a huge sum from the riding club.
“It was a lovely event, although the weather wasn’t great we stood in the hospice grounds with hot drinks and sticky buns, (the horses enjoyed carrots).
“The horses were very well-behaved but unfortunately for the hospice gardener, they did not leave him any deposits for the rose bushes.”
