A CHARITY which looks after terminally-ill people is looking for volunteers to work in its three shops in town.
St Michael’s Hospice, based in Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards, needs more staff during the week or at weekends to meet a current shortage. It costs the charity £5million a year to run its services.
The hospice is looking for anyone who has spare time to work a morning or afternoon shift. Chris Jones, the hospice’s head of trading, said: “Our shops are an important source of income and we desperately need volunteers to help in Hastings, St Leonards and Ore and in all our other shops across Hastings and Rother.
“The income generated through our shops goes a long way to support vital hospice services that we are able to offer our patients and their families each year. This would not be possible without the help and support of our volunteers.
“I can say to potential volunteers that we organise convenient shifts to suit individual needs.” Anyone interested should ring Tony Holtham, retail manager, on 01424 717202 or 07894 619574 or Andrea Garrick, voluntary services manager, on 01424 456610.
Potential volunteers are also invited to the hospice shop in Queens Road on Wednesday between 5.30pm and 6.30pm to learn more.
