AN event to remember the Holocaust and other victims of genocide will be held next weekend.
The annual Holocaust Memorial Day will take place at St Mary-in-the-Castle on Saturday, January 28 at 11am. This year’s theme is Speak Up, Speak Out and guests will be asked to remember the victims of hate crimes through genocide and prejudice.
Stories told at the event will re-tell the experiences of those persecuted in Europe and Africa during the Second World War and during recent atrocities. Music will be provided by Opera South East.
Councillor Jay Kramer, lead member for equalities at Hastings Borough Council, said: “This year’s theme is an important one. It reminds us to speak out against inequality, prejudice and intolerance. This moving event is well worth attending and we are pleased to be able to host it at St Mary-in-the-Castle.”
Admission is free but by ticket only. Tickets are available from the Information Centre, Priory Meadow and the Bexhill Library, Western Road.
