Dozens donned Y-fronts or dressed as their favourite comic book heroes for a five kilometre run through Alexandra Park on Sunday
But while the costumes raised plenty of smiles in the sunshine, the event addressed the serious issue of raising awareness of cancers that effect men.
It also raised vital funds for both national and local charities, including St Michael’s Hospice.
People of all ages took part in the The Y Front Run. The event was organised by local woman Jo Brazier who said: “I set up The Y Front Run campaign to educate and involve local men to raise awareness of male cancer and to take part in an event.”
Coming in first on Sunday was Danny Warner who completed the course in an impressive 18 mins 30 secs.
As well as the race there was a photobooth, a chiropractor offering massages, health products and information and stalls offering superhero capes and masks and candy floss.
The event was supported by Hastings Borough Council, which used its StreetGames project to organise training sessions in preparation for the run.
Hastings Borough Council’s lead member for leisure, Cllr Dawn Poole explained: “The event was a great opportunity for all local men, including teenagers and OAP’s to increase fitness and raise awareness of male cancer issues.”
The run was also backed by Asda supermarket in St Leonards, which helped raise funds and awareness by hosting an annual Pants Day.
