FEWER people are being admitted to the Conquest Hospital, compared to last year, according to figures from hospital bosses.
Since April 1, when the trust’s new financial year started, 21,539 patients came through the doors at The Ridge hospital and its sister one, Eastbourne DGH.
This was a drop of almost three per cent compared to the same period last year.
At a trust board meeting on Wednesday, Andy Horne, the trust’s director of development, said less patients were also being referred to hospital by their GPs thus reducing pressure on hospital staff.
Since April 1, East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs both hospitals, saw a 12 per cent drop in these referrals compared to the same period last year.
