A CHARITY which looks after terminally ill patients is inviting the public to take part in a new campaign to mark its 25th anniversary this year.
St Michael’s Hospice, based in Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards, wants people to share their stories on how they celebrate life as part of an upcoming Silver Jubilee event this summer.
The charity is expecting thousands of entries over the coming months and is also inviting patients, supporters, friends and celebrities to take part.
Darran Penfold, hospice spokesman, said: “Everyone has their own way of celebrating life. Perhaps yours is a stroll along the Fire Hills, a day out with loved ones, riding pillion on a motorbike or even a sky dive. Whatever you love doing, no matter how simple or how daring, the hospice wants to hear about it.
“Our story postcard campaign invites thousands of residents in Hastings and Rother as well as patients, families, supporters and celebrities to share their stories of how they celebrate life.
“We will then display these stories for patients and their families and friends to enjoy. The best stories will be used to inspire and create a very special summer event to mark 25 years of providing specialist palliative care in Hastings and Rother.”
We have reproduced the postcard below to make it easier for you to take part.
Use the form to tell your story in under 50 words and return it to the Fundraising Department at St Michael’s Hospice, 25 Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex TN38 0LB or take it to your nearest St Michael’s Hospice shop.
Alternatively, leave your story on the hospice’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/stmichaelshospice
Mr Penfold added: “A smile costs nothing and in just a few words your story could bring happiness to a family when they need it most.”
