Hastings Humanists
The inaugural meeting of this group took place on Darwin Day, February 12, at the White Rock Hotel, and attracted ten participants.
We began with a "Getting to Know You" session, introducing ourselves.
Then we turned to our advertised debate on the proposition that "Evolution implies Atheism." However, this did not reach any definite conclusion, and our discussions soon wandered to other important issues such as attitudes to life and death, and the nature of humanist morality, about which there was clearly some strong feeling among the members.
This was a good start to the group and another formal meeting will be held on March 12 at the same venue. We will also hold informal get-togethers on a weekly basis. More details and regular news can be seen on our blog:
