THE QUEEN will be sent a letter from the borough of Hastings to formally congratulate her on her Diamond Jubilee.
The cabinet recently approved a motion by councillor Matthew J Lock to send Her Majesty the letter to formally offer congratulations on behalf of the whole town.
The motion also included investigating the possibility of offering resources to local community groups who want to hold events such as street parties to celebrate the occasion.
The report, drafted by head of communications Kevin Boorman, states: “The council does work with local groups to examine funding opportunities to promote community celebrations, whilst acknowledging that resources will be very limited.
“These events would obviously be inclusive and fully accessible. Where appropriate these events would be promoted to potential visitors to ensure the community benefits from both the celebrations themselves and additional spend in the local economy from visitors.”
